This is Bill's Backyard Classics cars museum in Amarillo, Texas.

The pins represent where visitors to the museum are from. We were the first to put a pin on the map for Camden, Arkansas.

We also visited Escape the Trap House. We didn't escape, but came close. Destiny had fun.

Ripley's Believe It or Not (3 of 10)

Right across the road from the Ferris wheel was a Ripley's Believe It or Not. There are more than two dozen of these 'odditoriums' around the world. It is called this because the things you find in these museums are odd, unusual, and unique.

On December 19, 1918, the first Believe It or Not!—then called “Champs and Chumps”—was published and featured a collection of sports oddities Ripley had saved. Soon after, in 1922, Ripley embarked on his first around-the-world trip and published his travel journals, which led to the very first Believe It or Not! book in 1929!

The first Odditorium opened in Chicago, Illinois, at the 1933 World’s Fair. Inside the museum were dozens of Ripley’s famous cartoons, live performers, and hundreds of strange and exotic artifacts Ripley acquired on his worldly travels.

Titanic Museum (5 of 10)

Titanic Museum

Our first stop Friday morning after leaving the condo was to go to the Titanic Museum. Destiny was very excited to go to the museum. She hadn't seen any of the movies, including the most famous by James Cameron, but she does of course know the story.

Destiny was Master Frankie Goldsmith and I was George Rosenshine. These were real people on the Titanic. On each of our boarding passes was a biography for each. As we went through the museum, we were able to not only see recreations of what it was like on the ship for each class, the children, and crew. They also provide lots of facts, including information about the many dogs that were on board.

There were many artifact recreations from clothes to jewelry to tableware. And all the staff were dressed in costume and acted in character.

This was the best thing we experienced in Branson on our two day vacation. We took our time, and at the end was a gift shop where we found many quality and fair priced souvenirs. I bought a new jacket for Destiny and a few others things for Christmas gifts. I will make a separate blog post about Christmas where you can see the other things we got here and at other places.

WonderWorks, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

We did go into Gatlinburg, Tennessee, one day, but just to drive along the main road. There was too much traffic, and too many people.

Another day, we went into Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which wasn't nearly as busy. While there, we saw several interesting places, and decided to visit one of them. This upside down looking building turned out to be a kids science museum called, 'WonderWorks'.

Jet ski and museum.

Another day, when the weather was nice, we rented a WaveRunner jet ski for an hour. It was an absolute blast. I haven't driven a jet ski in a long time, and Destiny was a little nervous because she had never been on a jet skit before.

It didn't take long and she was having lots of fun.

After we finished with the jet ski, we went to a local historical museum.

This was an old school house, and they had many different things exhibited from the early 20th century.

Of course Destiny didn't recognize most of the things. Many of the things I only knew because of my parents or grandparents.

Just relaxing at camp.

Teacher Carl travels to Washington D.C. (Walking around D.C.)

We took a Lyft to the Ford Theater, where President Lincoln was shot. The line was too long for it and the house he died in, so we walked toward the Natural History Museum.
Long line.

Teacher Carl travels to Washington D.C. (Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum)

We made to Washington D.C., and on our first day, we took the Metro to Union Station, where we spent an hour trying to find where we were supposed to catch the D.C. Circulator bus to take us to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

Spring Break 2019 (National Museum of the United States Air Force) Dayton, Ohio

We spent an entire day in Dayton, Ohio, exploring the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The pictures below are in reverse order that I took them. We started with the early years of flight. Next up were World War I and World War II. Followed by the conflicts with North Korea and Vietnam. Then we came to the Cold War era. There was even a section dedicated to missiles. The last two sections focused on more modern era aircraft and included several presidential aircraft, as well as a mock up of the space shuttle. They even had several different flight simulators, including one where you can land the space shuttle, and another where you go on a space walk at the International Space Station, using VR. The museum housed more than just U.S. examples. It also had examples from Japan, Russia, Germany, France, and England.

Spring Break 2019 (Creation Museum)

On the second day of our Spring Break vacation, we planned to see two major attractions. The first was the Creation Museum. This is where the theory of creation proves the Bible is fact, not fiction. I think my favorite part of this museum shows how the myth of dragons were in fact dinosaurs.

Sharing old photos.

First, let me introduce my older daughter, Suzanne. She likes animals, including snakes, coloring her hair, piercings, tattoos, and Harry Potter.

This is Suzanne's snake, Banana.

This is our guinea pig, Moe.

And now, this is my younger daughter, Destiny. She is twelve years younger than her sister. She likes 'Frozen', animals, watching cartoons, and playing.

This is her school, Victory Christian School, which is only a ten minute walk from home.

This photo was taken just after Destiny was baptized.

This was in Little Rock just before Chinese Spring Festival 2018.
It was very cold to go see the lanterns and performers.

This is an old car we saw in a parking lot going into Walmart.

We were at Mid America Museum in Hot Springs.

Just before baptism.

Halloween 2015 at the nearby White Oak Lake State Park.

This is a little water park our town put in for the kids to have fun during the summer.

This is from Destiny's eighth birthday part.

They have a real submarine, the U.S.S. Razorback, which you can go in. You can see a video tour here.
It was the longest serving submarine in the world, serving for 26 years in the United States Navy, starting in 1944, followed by another 31 years in the Turkish Navy.

This was our 2017 Christmas tree.

My little girl's bed.

I chop about ten different vegetables to make a large salad. The salad is seasoned, and I will have a little salad dressing on it for my lunch, and sometimes dinner each day. I keep the salad refrigerated, and it will usually last all week.

Spring Break 2018 day 6:

Wow, it was a day full of activities and walking. We changed plans and went to Hot Springs today, because it was a little cool this morning. We started by going to a toy store and then saw a museum with Star Wars and superhero stuff. Then we had breakfast for lunch, (I had hash-brown potatoes, sausage, biscuits, and eggs covered in country gravy, and Destiny had bacon, eggs, and a pancake.), before going to see some model trains and town. After that, we went to an alligator farm and petting zoo. Finally, we went to walk around some nature trails called Garvand Woodland Gardens. We are both tired, but are going to enjoy a good campfire before bed.

Spring Break 2018 day 5:

We said goodbye to my father and drove to see where an ancient Indian civilization used to live about 3,000 years ago up to about 1,000 years ago. They built mounds of dirt to keep track of the Winter and Summer solstice, and of the Spring and Autumn equinox. Next, we drove to Murfreesboro, Arkansas, to spend the next four nights in a Tipi. After settling in, we built a campfire, and Destiny made some new friends. They all went out at night with flashlights on a ‘treasure hunt’ the campground owner arranged for them.
